The three terminal positive regulators have current outputs more than 1A (LM78xx), 100 mA (LM78Lxx) and 500 mA (LM78Mxx). There is no need for external components although it is possible to adjust the voltage and current with external devices. The voltage regulators combine thermal shutdown, internal current limiting and output transistor safe-area compensation all in its own package.
