The SP233AEP is an enhanced RS-232 line driver/receiver IC originally developed by Sipex Corporation (later acquired by MaxLinear). It’s designed for full-duplex serial communication and is pin-compatible with earlier SP231 and SP232 devices. This IC integrates two drivers and two receivers, making it ideal for RS-232 interfaces in embedded systems, modems, and industrial equipment. It features a high slew rate and robust ESD protection, enabling reliable data transmission over longer cables and in electrically noisy environments.
